Employment Aid: Some help for the return and hiring of workers in the Covid-19 pandemic

The employment aid plan, has gone into force, with the goal of recovering and creating jobs that were lost due to the coronavirus pandemic. The plan will operate on two options a “Return Aid” for employees whose employment was suspended due to Covid-19 quarantines, and a “Hiring Aid ” for new hiring’s.
Return Aid:

Companies who had suspended workers under the Protection of Work act, can ask for the government for aid for a monthly equivalent to CLP $160.000, for six months, for each employee that returns to work. This subsidy is for employee's whom base salary is lower than CLP $961.500.

Requirements:
  • Companies whose sales or gross income is 20% lower from April to July 2020, in comparison to the same period last year.
  • For contracts that offer a base monthly salary lower than 3 minimum wages.
  • Companies ask for this aid for employee’s that have returned from a suspended work contract due to authority enforcement or mutual agreement.

Hire Aid:

Companies that pay taxes included in the tax systems for Pyme, Presumed income, individual and others, who will hire a new employee, can opt for the Aid in (Group A) which is equivalent to the 60% of the employee’s salary up to a maximum of CLP $270.000, for males under 24 year, women and or candidates that might have a disability or an aid (Group B) equivalent to 50% of the base salary, to a maximum on CLP $250.000, for males over 24 years.

Inscribing for this aid has no restrictions, but the number of Aided cases will depend on the number of employee´s already hired in the company:
  • Companies with more than 25 employees: the Aid´s maximum is 20% of the total base salary the company.
  • Companies with less than 25 employees: the maximum aid is for 5 employees.

Requirements:
  • For contract that offer a base monthly salary lower than 3 minimum wages.
  • Medium, small or individual companies that pay taxes and are categorized as such.

To ask for this Aid, it must be done through www.subsidioalempleo.cl, were the information requested should be completed. The companies can ask for this Aid until March 31, 2021.
